Built with purpose. Priced with honesty. Supported for the long term.

Pricing reflects bespoke engineering shaped by years of experience, not just the base vehicle itself.

Choosing a wheelchair accessible vehicle is about far more than the headline figure. Comfort, ride quality, access, long-term reliability and aftercare all shape the real ownership experience, and these factors directly influence cost.

How Pricing Works

Every Lewis Reed wheelchair accessible vehicle is specified around the person who will use it — not a fixed template.

Pricing is shaped by:

  • the base vehicle (typically premium Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen or Ford platforms)
  • the type of conversion and wheelchair position
  • suspension, ride and comfort specification
  • interior space, seating flexibility and overall finish
  • the level of aftercare and ongoing support required for long-term peace of mind

Because every customer’s needs are different, pricing is never one-size-fits-all. Each vehicle is configured to suit how it will be used today — and how those needs may evolve in the future.

Indicative Pricing Guidance

To provide early clarity, typical starting points are:

  • Motability Advance Payments generally start from £19,995, depending on vehicle choice and specification
  • Retail purchase prices typically start from £42,850, with final pricing influenced by conversion depth, comfort options and layout requirements
  • Larger vehicles, bespoke layouts and enhanced suspension specifications may sit higher

Most customers who contact us find their final specification sits comfortably within these indicative ranges once their requirements are fully understood.

It’s also worth noting that while many customers are familiar with the traditional three-year replacement cycle of standard vehicles, wheelchair accessible vehicles on the Motability Scheme now operate on a five-year term. This longer period helps spread the initial Advance Payment over more years of use, reflecting the complexity, durability and long-term value of a properly engineered WAV.

These figures reflect not only the quality of the conversion itself, but the reassurance of knowing expert support remains available long after the vehicle is delivered.

Why Lewis Reed Vehicles Sit at a Premium

The real differences between wheelchair accessible vehicles are often felt months or years into ownership — not on the day of handover.

Lewis Reed vehicles are engineered around:

  • exceptional ride quality, including advanced suspension options designed to reduce fatigue
  • longer rear floor lengths for improved wheelchair positioning and interior space
  • lower, gentler ramp gradients for safer, easier access
  • refined base vehicles chosen for stability, quietness and long-distance comfort
  • total occupant inclusion, with wheelchair users fully integrated into the cabin as equal passengers — never isolated, sidelined, or treated as an afterthought

  • industry-leading aftercare, with direct access to people who understand your vehicle

Our relationship with customers does not end at delivery. We remain involved, offering guidance, technical support and reassurance whenever it’s needed.

Lewis Reed vehicles are not designed to be the cheapest option available. They are designed for customers who value comfort, longevity and long-term support over the lifetime of the vehicle.

Why Prices Vary Between Converters

Not all wheelchair accessible vehicles are built to the same standard.

Differences in suspension design, ramp geometry, base vehicle choice, interior layout and aftercare provision all influence cost — and many of these differences are not immediately visible.

Understanding what sits beneath the surface is key to making a confident, informed decision.

Motability or Private Purchase

We supply wheelchair accessible vehicles through:

  • the Motability Scheme, and
  • private purchase for customers funding independently.

In both cases, we clearly explain:

  • how pricing is structured
  • which specification choices influence cost
  • how long-term support and aftercare are built into the value we provide

Our aim is always clarity — so you can choose the right vehicle with confidence.

We believe pricing conversations should be:

  • clear
  • honest
  • pressure-free
