The new Volkswagen Shuttle WAV has been expertly developed by Lewis Reed to deliver outstanding accessibility, comfort and everyday practicality.
Available now in both Life and Style models, it offers seating for up to seven passengers and flexible wheelchair travel positions, including a front wheelchair passenger position. A transfer-to-drive option allows the wheelchair user to transfer into a powered six-way driver’s seat for independent driving.
Features include side and rear wheelchair access, digital displays, smartphone connectivity and USB charging throughout the spacious, modern cabin.
The Nelhi rear ramp and lowering suspension conversion is NOW available, providing a gentler ramp angle and increased entrance clearance. The GRANDE high roof is in development and expected by the end of the year, which provides additional internal headroom and cabin space. Each can be selected independently or combined for maximum accessibility and space.
Shuttle Features at a Glance
The Shuttle comes well-equipped with dual digital displays, LED lighting, air-conditioning front and rear, and key safety features like multiple airbags, Lane Assist, a rear-view camera, and parking sensors.
Passengers enjoy generous space, folding armrests, LED reading lights, and flexible seating, plus six ISOFIX for child seats. It also features Volkswagen’s We Connect services, letting you check vehicle status, plan service visits, or find your Shuttle using your smartphone.
Effortless wheelchair access, tailored to your needs
Choose from rear or side entry, with electric sliding doors and fully automated systems available. At the press of a button, the appropriate door or tailgate opens and the wheelchair lift deploys, providing convenient, independent access.
Current options include the AMF Panorama 400kg rear platform lift, the popular Fiorella Twister 250kg lift, the Autolift 300kg side lift and the newly available Nelhi ramp with lowering suspension.
Also nearing completion is the GRANDE high-roof conversion, which provides additional internal headroom. The Nelhi ramp and GRANDE roof are separate options but can be combined to provide easier entry and greater space inside.
Flexible Seating with a New Upfront Passenger Wheelchair Position
The Volkswagen Transporter Shuttle WAV offers outstanding flexibility, with wheelchair travel positions available in row 1, row 2, or row 3 and seating for up to seven passengers.
Now available from Lewis Reed, the new upfront wheelchair passenger position allows the wheelchair user to travel alongside the driver, creating a more inclusive and sociable journey with excellent forward visibility.
Flexible tip-and-fold seating makes it easy to adapt the interior for different passengers and journeys. A transfer-to-drive option with a powered six-way transfer seat is also available, and every conversion can be tailored to suit individual requirements.
Greater Access with the New Nelhi Ramp
The new Nelhi conversion for the Volkswagen Shuttle WAV combines a specially designed rear ramp with lowering suspension, creating a gentler ramp angle for easier wheelchair access.
By choosing this option, the rear entrance height is increased to 56”, making it particularly suitable for larger wheelchairs and passengers who need additional space to enter the vehicle.
When the Shuttle Grande becomes available in mid-2027, its raised roof will provide an internal travelling height of 58”—creating the perfect combination of easier access and greater space inside.

Expected in mid-2027, the Shuttle Grande will feature a beautifully integrated raised roof, providing an internal height of 58” and a wonderfully open, spacious interior.
Paired with the new Nelhi ramp and lowering suspension, it will offer a smoother, more generous route into the vehicle, opening into a cabin with plenty of room inside.
This impressive combination will make the Shuttle Grande ideal for larger wheelchairs and passengers who need extra space to enter, move around and travel in comfort.
Independence, Your Way
The Volkswagen Shuttle Transfer-to-Drive WAV is available now, giving wheelchair users greater freedom and the opportunity to drive independently.
Once inside the vehicle, the powered six-way driver’s seat moves into the most suitable position, making it easier to transfer from the wheelchair into the original driver’s seat.
Access is available via a rear platform lift with an automatic tailgate or an underfloor side lift with an electric sliding door. Both systems can be operated using a compact remote-control key fob.
